Mira Opalinska (b. Rzeszow, Poland, 1982) is a highly versatile pianist based in Glasgow, Scotland. She has over fifteen years experience performing in a variety of musical settings: from classical chamber music and concertos to jazz groups and big-bands; from intimate music theatre work to large scale touring shows. Now her passion lies firmly with improvisation/jazz and in this role she regularly performs around the UK and her native Poland.

Strathclyde Youth Jazz Orchestra (SYJO) is recognised as one of the foremost youth jazz orchestras in Europe. With appearances at international festivals in Miami, Poland and South Africa, SYJO has provided young musicians living in Scotland , with professional training and performance opportunities since 1986. SYJO is directed by Stewart Forbes, a lecturer in music and Jazz Module Leader at the University of Strathclyde and one of Scotland' s most experienced, professional jazz musicians.
