WEST in bottles
We are currently in the early planning stages for the launch of our own range of premium bottled lagers this summer. This means that you will soon be able to buy your favourite WEST beer in half litre bottles at discerning retail outlets across the UK. You won’t have to be without WEST even when you are not on Glasgow Green!
We will update you on progress and we will invite a select few of you to help us pick our final beer labels. Watch this space for more info!
The WEST sign
Well, it has taken two years, one month and three days to finally get a permanent, wind and weather proof and lit WEST sign for our front entrance. What can we say? We are thrilled!
In fact, you may catch us standing on the front steps in the next few weeks smiling at our sign. That is how happy it makes us!
This is just the first noticeable sign of several upgrades to your local brewery, bar & restaurant and we welcome any feedback regarding these changes.

WEST Live Music
We are proud to announce the return of live music to WEST. What better way to enjoy your Sunday afternoon than having a spot of lunch whilst listening to a live band? Well now you can once more at WEST. Starting this month we have some of the best live jazz bands in Glasgow performing jazz, funk, rock, latin and blues in the main bar area.
We are pleased to announce that we have two bands booked already for April and will soon have a live band every Sunday from 2pm-5pm.
There is no charge for coming and enjoying the music and we welcome all age groups so you can bring the children along as well. See you all soon at WEST!
13th of April - Liquid Jazz
Liquid Jazz are a jazz quartet consisting of Andy Mulligan (Tenor Sax), Iain (Mac) McIntyre (Electric Bass), Frank Cairns (Electric Guitar) and Billy McGrory (Drums). They have been regulars on the Glasgow Jazz scene since forming in 2003 and have performed at many festivals including the Glasgow International Jazz Festival.
27th of April - Jazz Co.
Jazz Co. are a Glasgow five piece band with two horn players who are regular performers in all the favourite jazz venues across the city performing traditional jazz standards and more up to date pieces, music for everyones ears.
WEST German Sausages
We are pleased to announce that, once again, we are able to source our WEST sausages straight from Franconia. The first batch are on a plane as you read this, so come and visit the brewery for some authentic Franconian (that is a part of Germany in Northern Bavaria) Wurst, Sauerkraut and Pretzels.
WEST Beer Garden
Here at WEST, we think we have the sunniest beer garden in town (well, that is when the sun is shining). We have recently been busy giving the benches a make-over to get them ready for you all to enjoy the Scottish sunshine - so lets hope that the good weather is just round the corner!
Charan Gill joins WEST team
The WEST team are delighted to announce that renowned entrepreneur Charan Gill (also known as Scotland’s Curry King!) has joined forces with them and has become a shareholder and non-executive director of Noah Beers Ltd, the company that owns and runs WEST – Brewery, Bar & Restaurant.
Apart from the great bar and restaurant, what attracted me to get involved in WEST was the fantastic quality of its product range. There are plenty of Scottish ales available but no other premium Scottish lager so there is a real gap in the market and WEST offers a local, exciting product.”
Weddings at WEST
As a result of the many enquiries to get hitched here at the brewery (we even have a licence to tie the knot right here on Glasgow Green!) we have just launched our WEST wedding brochure.
The brochure is now available to download here , but if you are an “old-fashioned” type like us, please just call and we will be delighted to send you a hard copy in the post!
More WEST outlets
We are also currently busy closing deals with major publicans and restaurateurs who are being very supportive and recognise the importance of the brewery as a local Glasgow brand.
We will be installing WEST fonts (that's the stuff the beer comes out of) in some city centre and West End outlets later this week and as soon as the beer is on, we will let you know! You can then ask for a pint of
WEST Re-launch Party celebrated by 350 guests
On the 1st May 2008 WEST celebrated its re-launch with a fabulous party in its brewery, bar and restaurant on Glasgow Green. The WEST re-launch party, pictured above, was attended by some 350 guests who celebrated the dramatic reversal in fortunes of Glasgow's unique brewery which, under new ownership, has gone from strength to strength.
Addressing the assembled guests, Petra Wetzel said, “The last few months have been somewhat challenging for us here at WEST,
but we’re back with a vengeance and the team here are absolutely determined to make sure that WEST finally gets recognised for brewing the best beer in Scotland, if not Britain, and for our fantastic venue to become an integral part of the bar and restaurant scene, renowned not just for its beer, but also its food, fabulous live entertainment, atmosphere and service."
