WEST’s quirky wee brewery in the iconic Templeton Building is well-known in Glasgow, having brewed the city’s favourite WEST beers since 2006. Its characteristic features include a shiny copper mash tun and kettle, visible from the beer hall upstairs.
In 2016, following the celebration of a decade in operation, WEST unveiled a brand new brewery housed on the same premises within the Templeton Building on Glasgow Green. The new brewery increases capacity ten-fold to 25,000 hL a year and individual batches of 30 hL each. The brewery includes twenty fermenters of various sizes, one 120 hL and two 30 hL bright beer tanks, three 9 tonne malt silos, and specialty malt hoppers which reduce manual handling. The new brewery is also home to a lab which increases WEST’s technical capabilities and allows the brewers to focus on quality and consistency while expanding the range of WEST’s premium beers.
