Dunkelweizen launched for December

We’ve brewed a new one to get you feeling festive this December. Much more than just a Christmas beer, it’s a must-try – and our new favourite!

Dunkelweizen (5.2%) is an unfiltered dark wheat beer. The beer is brewed with a complex grain bill, adding another dimension of flavour to the typical notes of banana, clove, and fruit predominant in a wheat beer. It is full of sweet tastes like candied citrus peel and fruit syrup, enhanced by aromas of toast, roasted nuts, and even a faint hint of the spices used in mulled wine.

‘Dunkel’ is German for dark, and ‘weizen’ is wheat. The WEST brewers wanted to make Dunkelweizen stand out, and utilised techniques such as tweaking the mash temperature and other forms of brewing wizardry to encourage the yeast to create more pronounced clove and spice flavours.

WEST Hefeweizen is one of our most popular beers, and the new Dunkelweizen aims to bring beer enthusiasts the same much-loved flavours with a darker, richer twist.

Try it at WEST On The Green or WEST On The Corner and let us know what you think!

You can also review Dunkelweizen and other WEST beers on Untappd.

Wishing all of you a very cheery and beery Christmas and Happy New Year from the Wild WEST!
